Here is another great drum kit to add to your library. courtesy of wavbvkery. The inspiration to record these complimentary acoustic drum samples emerged during their visit to Jon Sine’s B Studio to document some other drum packs, a few of which you can already find on their website. While there, they spotted an authentic Ludwig Drum Set in his workspace and requested to record it as well. With Jon’s consent, they transported each component separately into his vocal booth and recorded multiple hits using a large-diaphragm condenser microphone.
This Drum Set revolves around a classic Ludwig kit, likely from the 1970s, rendering it an ideal fit for a variety of genres such as rock, jazz, and indie. It’s worth mentioning that the cymbals and drum heads have been replaced over time. The snare drum has been meticulously tweaked to achieve a crisp, tight sound, and all tuning was handled by one of Jon’s staff members, who boasts an intimate understanding of drums.
Also noteworthy is the fact that wavbvkery used a single mono microphone to record each component. This means you won’t find any extra room or stereo overhead samples. As such, creating a realistic “live” acoustic drum set, similar to the quality of Addictive Drums, BFD3, or some Native Instruments products might not be feasible.
Despite this, many of the samples have a distinct, pleasant sound, making them valuable for more inventive tasks, integrating individual elements into an existing drum kit, or for sound design purposes. You’ll certainly find these acoustic drum samples enjoyable.
